Base Note is an independent fragrance shop in Park Ridge, Illinois, run by Base Note LLC. We decant genuine designer and niche fragrances into 5 ml glass travel atomizers, about 60 sprays each, so you can wear a scent for weeks before you commit to a full bottle.

Jeff Theefs founded Base Note with cofounder Alex Cherne around one idea: you should be able to build a rotation of luxury fragrances without spending $500 or more on full bottles. Read the founders’ story.

How it works

• Shop one-time: choose any fragrance in the collection as a single 5 ml vial.
• Monthly Rotation: an optional subscription for one 5 ml vial each month. Your first order is $15, then $20 a month until you cancel. Skip, pause, or cancel anytime from your account.
• One flat price: every 5 ml vial is the same price, with no surcharges for premium houses.

What you receive

The bottle photos on our product pages show the original fragrance so you can identify it. What you receive is a 5 ml glass spray atomizer filled with that fragrance, decanted by hand to order.

Base Note is an independent retailer. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any fragrance brand, designer, or manufacturer. Brand names are used only to identify the fragrance in each vial.
