About This Fragrance

Santal traces back further than most of Creed's modern lineup — a 21st-century reworking of a fragrance the house originally composed for Emperor Franz Josef of Austria-Hungary in the 1800s. Olivier and Erwin Creed rebuilt it in 2005 by looking toward India for inspiration, aiming for something with the warmth and opulence of royal courts and old spice routes rather than a specific place. The result leans less floral than most Creeds and more spice-driven, built to feel formal and worn-in at the same time.

Top Notes: Juniper Berries, Ginger, Coriander, Rosemary, Bergamot, Cinnamon.

Heart Notes: Sandalwood (Mysore), Lavender, Geranium, Orange Blossom.

Base Notes: Tonka Bean, Vanilla, White Musk, Cedarwood, Benzoin.

Is this the real Creed, or a dupe?

It's genuine. We transfer the fragrance from an authorized-distributor full bottle into a 5 ml glass atomizer. No knock-offs, no fragrance oils, no "inspired by" reformulations. Legally we can't put the original bottle's brand mark on the atomizer label — that's why our product name is precise (Creed Santal EDP) but we never claim to be the original fragrance house.

Is it the EDP or the EDT? Which concentration do I get?

This one is Eau de Parfum. Your 5 ml is decanted from the original Eau de Parfum bottle — we never substitute a lighter concentration to save cost. Every fragrance in the rotation shows its concentration under the name at the top of its page, and each month's pick works the same way.

Are there hidden surcharges on luxury fragrances like Creed or Parfums de Marly?

No. Every fragrance in the Base Note catalog is $20 flat, including Creed Aventus, Parfums de Marly Layton, Tom Ford Oud Wood, Xerjoff, and Bond No. 9. Most competitors charge an extra $5–15 on these brands on top of the advertised base price. We priced the product to include the luxury tier so the math is honest.

Can I gift this subscription, or change my scent after I subscribe?

You can swap to a different fragrance from your account any time before the next ship date — there's no "committed for the year" lock-in. Gift subscriptions aren't live yet, but we're targeting them for later this year; in the meantime, a workaround is to start a normal subscription and forward the shipment to the recipient, then cancel.
