Perseus

Perseus is built around a very specific image: sunrise at the Château de Marly, the first light hitting the gardens and setting the fountains sparkling. It leans on a detail from the actual 18th-century court — the orangeries, greenhouses built to protect citrus trees through French winters, since the fruit itself was used both in perfumery and, at the time, as a kind of energizing tonic. Named for the Greek hero rather than a horse, it opens bright with grapefruit and blackcurrant, then pivots hard into dry, cashmere-soft woods — Julien Sprecher has pointed to that contrast, citrus against wood, as the whole idea behind it.
