Dior Homme Intense builds on the original 2005 Dior Homme, which Olivier Polge composed under Hedi Slimane's direction — a bold move at the time, since iris was almost never used in men's fragrance. It kicked off the whole iris trend that followed. Intense, from François Demachy in 2011, took that same iris backbone and pushed it further into amber and precious wood, denser than the original's cocoa-dusted version.

Dior Homme Parfum. I’m giving this a 7.
The first 10 to 15 minutes are a little much on my nose. Kind of sharp and powdery. I’m not saying it’s bad. I’m just saying it needs a minute.
Once that opening settles down, that’s when I actually like it. Gets warmer and smoother. Like a fine wine. It gets better with time.
Lasts a long time. I wear it, I just don’t reach for it first.
